Bridget knew the engagement was coming and she expected something around Christmas. Three days before Christmas, Steve had a long talk with Bridget and told her that he "wasn't ready to get engaged" and "that the engagement should be on both ends and not just one person wanting to get engaged". Bridget was very upset, but agreed. Then on Christmas day, as Bridget opened her Christmas gift from Steve, she found a diamond ring nestled in between the Fossil watch Steve gave Bridget and the foam padding for the watch. Bridget was completely surprised! Steve explained to the family he had to "Break Bridget down" so that he could surprise her and that Steve "not wanting to commit" was a total act. Steve asked Bridget if she would marry him and of course she gladly accepted!
